Ken Searle received his art training at the National Art School in Washington, D. C. He also attended Boston University and enrolled in the Famous Artists School. And early in his career, he received tutoring under various professional artists, so his education was quite well-rounded, from varied sources and disciplines. Mr. Searle is a tenth-generation Island-born native of Martha’s Vineyard. His first Island ancestors arrived on the Vineyard in 1670. His roots go back to the Mayflower, with four ancestors arriving on the Plymouth shore in 1620. His heritage is strongly felt in his paintings which depict the New England countryside and seashore where he has lived and worked his entire life. Mr. Searle is also a highly successful technical illustrator, but he now spends most of his time painting landscapes and seascapes, his first love. He has exhibited his work in numerous forums throughout New England, including galleries, museums, libraries and educational institutions. His watercolor paintings and drawings are in hundreds of private collections, and he has recently made available several prints of his marine watercolors.
