Ross
Merrill is not only an accomplished painter, but he also is an
expert painting conservator and a painting instructor. Although
he was formally trained as a painter, he has worked for several
museums in a variety of positions. He has conducted countless
painting workshops, and has lectured extensively on various artists
and painting techniques. He specializes in plein air painting,
portraying the landscape of Maine.
Mr. Merrill has studied at Oberlin, at the Pennsylvania Museum
of Fine Arts, and in London. He has done conservatory work for
the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D. C. He has won numerous
awards at exhibitions throughout the country, and his work has
been featured in such prestigious publications as American Artist
Magazine and North Light Artist’s Guide. His work is represented
in countless private and corporate collections in the United States,
Europe and Japan.
