Born in northeastern Ohio, Jerry Cable, at an early age, discovered
his passion for art. Under the tutelage of a private instructor,
Jerry set out to define himself as an artist. Today his creative
spirit thrives in a Hunterdon County, New Jersey studio near
Philadelphia, nurtured by the rich landscapes and historic buildings
of the Delaware Valley countryside.
He has been inspired by the American Impressionists and the
great European painters of the late nineteenth century, and
frequently travels abroad with his students to study first hand
the works of the masters.
Resonating with luminous rhythms of light and color, his paintings
evoke mood and emotion for the viewer. Like the Impressionists,
Jerry captures the moment and reveals each subject intimately
with an interplay of light and shadow against color and texture.
His relationship with his environment and connection with the
landscape are what inspire him to choose the subjects he paints.
His tranquil scenes reflect the innocence of life growing up
on the family farm and personal remembrances of a cherished
youth.
Jerry's accomplishments continue to define him as a leading
talent in the Delaware Valley. Since 1995 he has shown his work
in more than fifty juried and non-juried exhibitions including
The Philadelphia Sketch Club, and The National Art Club of New
York City. His paintings have been featured in ten solo exhibitions
in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Connecticut and Ohio. His works
are in private and public collections across the United States
and in Canada.
After completing his BFA at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New
York, Jerry established himself as a graphic designer. He has
worked extensively with corporations and the publishing industry
to create corporate logos, brochures, consumer packaging and
book jackets.
Jerry is represented by Canal Frame-Crafts Gallery, Washington
Crossing, PA, Travis Gallery, New Hope, PA, the River Side Gallery,
Pottersville, NJ, Rhinehart-Fischer Gallery, Trenton, NJ, and
the Potter & Slack Gallery, in Marbledale, CT.
