| Chicago-born
James Griffith's interest in art goes back to his early childhood when he spent
much time drawing and painting. During his high school years, he spent summers
taking classes at the Chicago Art Institute and at the American Academy of Art.
He then went on to Amherst College where he earned a BFA in studio art, and
finally, to the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design, graduating with a
degree in illustration. Mr. Griffiths began his career as a commercial illustrator,
but soon decided to devote his time to marine painting, as he had been interested
in painting ships and the sea for many years. |
